First aid is an immediate emergency treatment given to a person on the spot of accident. Everyone has to know some basic first aid tips so that it could help them during some emergency situation. The main aim of first aid is to save a person’s life. A survey says that every year nearly 1,40,000 people died where first aid would have save their life. Many people lack knowledge about first aid which would help them to save someone’s life. So some basic first aid can make a huge difference between life and death.
Some of the basic first aid is ABC which represents Airways, Breathing and CPR. Airways are given when a person is not breathing so at the time we have to clear the block in airway. A blocked airway can kill a person within 3 to 4 minutes, so if it takes too long for ambulance to arrive, open the airways block and save that person’s life. If the airways are clear but still the person is not breathing, provide him breathing. In other case where a person is breathing but not responding we can to give him CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). When a person faints in a crowded area, sprinkle some water on his face and clear the crowd or in other case check the person’s pulse and if the pulse is stopped compress his cheat and give him CPR or give artificial respiration. And also if a person is not awake try to wake them up. When a person has a cardiac arrest, CPR would save their life. According to American Health Association, nearly 1,00,000 to 2,00,000 adults and children are saved every year by giving proper CPR.
If you find a person bleeding in accident, don’t think that this bleeding cannot be stopped, all type of bleeding can be stopped. So first rinse the wound with water, if possible. Cover the wound with a cloth, using that cloth apply direct pressure to stop the blood flow. If the cloth is soaked don’t remove the cloth add an additional layer of cloth if needed, removing the first layer of cloth may lead to more blood loss. Apply a clean bandage once the bleeding is stopped. If the wound is heavy or some animal bite injuries or burns consult a doctor for further medical help.
The human body takes minimum 3 seconds to many years to recover from shock. The trauma can cause suspension of clear thinking abilities. For a snake bite: by suck of blood and the poison saves 23% of people, by making the person calm and taking him to the hospital saves 53% of the people, by tying a cloth little above the wound tightly saves 24% of the people.
