Sports : Enhances the hidden qualities in us
A sport is a physical activity that people do for fun and as a way to compete with others. People have enjoyed sports for thousands of years. Every sport has a set of rules that the players follow. Sports can be amateur or professional . Amateur athletes do not get paid for participating in a sport. Professional athletes, on the other hand; plays for money. Sports can be organized or unorganized. Children who get together for neighbourhood football games are playing unorganized sports, no organization controls their game. In organized sports, athletes play for a school, a business, a club, a community, or some other organization. The organization schedules games and enforces the rules of the sport.
Types of sports
In some sports one person competes against other individuals. Example of these sports include boxing, wrestling, gymnastics, figure skating diving, pile vaulting, long jumping, and house back riding.
In team sports a group of people plays against another group, or team. A team may have as few as two members. A double team in tennis has two players . Five players make up a basketball team. An ice hockey team has six players and a baseball team has nine. Eleven players make up a football, soccer or cricket team.
Since ancient times people have run races, wrest led, and hunted for sports. Ancient people in many parts of the world also played games with balls.
In some ancient sports were a part of religious practices. This was especially true of the Greek Olympic Games, which began in 776 BCE. The ancient Greeks played these games to honor their gods. The ancient Romans related athletic games to military skills, not religious. They did such sports as boxing, wrestling, chariot racing, and throwing spear-like sticks called javelines.
After ancient times people continued to play sports, but they were usually unorganized. Organized sports became more common in the 1700s and 1800s. People created leagues and other organizations to control athletic competitions. They also wrote down sets of rules for different sports.
Importance of sports
Sports is essential for every human life which keep them fit and fine and provides physical strength. It has great importance in each stage of life. It also improves the personality of people’s. Sports keep our all organ alert and heart become more fascinating due to the physical activity, blood pressure also remains healthy, and blood vessels remain clean. By playing Sports, lung function also improves and becomes healthy because of more amount of oxygen is supplied. Sports also improves bone strength even in old age.
Learning from sports
Sports brings discipline in life. It teaches the way of sitting, talking, walking, etc. Without sports in life it seems to bored , sports activate all the cells and keep the body active, fir and slim. Sports improves thinking ability and reduced the stress of mind. Those people who not so much interested in sports are less active and also chances of getting a disease in the early stage of life and also shows lethargy in work. Playing sports in a regular basis and keep our self fit. Sports should not be neglected but it should be mandatory for everyone.
