You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.Dr. Seuss, ‘Oh, The Places You’ll Go!’
‘Oh, The Places You’ll GO!’, written by Dr. Seuss is a fiction children’s literature poem. It has a short story but a very deep message.
This book, with its vivid and colorful pictures, interests every type of audience. It is the kind of book that should be read by anyone who is feeling down and going through a slump.
From the story and the pictures we infer that it is a story being told in the form of a poem by a small dwarf/boy dressed in a yellow jumpsuit, who represents the reader. He travels along different routes and tells about the hurdles he faces. Sometimes he’s walking past empty fields, or in a scary slump, or beside elephants, or on elephants! Sometimes he walks, or he’s on a hot air balloon, or on a boat. He passes through many astonishing places and comes across different kinds of situations.
Later on, he reaches a place that he fears, The Waiting Place, where people are just waiting, waiting for something or the other to happen. But eventually leaves that place, since it wasn’t meant for him.
The boy talks to the reader, he tells that everyday is YOUR day. And through his journey he wants to tell that in this world, you walk alone, you have to take your journeys by yourselves. You will come across many things, situations and people. And sometimes because we are so scared and confused we might wish there was someone next to us, but there will be no one.
You might have to cross endless fields and noisy crowds, but you have to do it alone. Since YOU are the one who decide the direction YOU go to. Even if your alone, it doesn’t matter, because you have the brains, you can decide what is best for you.
But there will also be many times when you are on top, and the wind will be with you, and you will succeed. But it is also possible that the wind might stop and make you fall abruptly. If that happens, its completely okay! Every person comes across difficulties and it will feel like your the only one lagging behind, but you should not fret or get sad or angry, instead you should look at the problem with different angles and find solutions.
And there will be times that you’ll be confused and get mixed up with people. But you’ll pass through. You just need be careful of your every step. But whatever it is, you will succeed if you try, 98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed!
But all you have to do is get up and get on your way,
Your day is waiting for you.
